It has been said that for change to truly occur, two things have to happen; repetition and emotional impact. Psychotherapy and psychoanalysis provide you, the individual, with a setting in which to consistently address those issues which have become and remain stumbling blocks to creating the life you want.
The therapeutic setting is unusual in that you are able to not only grapple with understanding an issue, but also to confront the emotions behind it that are blocking you from breaking through that issue and moving on.
Over the course of my 25+ years in practice as a psychotherapist and psychoanalyst, I have helped people effectively make the changes they wish to have happen in their lives. Like many others, you may be seeking:
- to have a better relationship with yourself and others
- to resolve career ambivalence and struggles
- to end addictive behavior involving alcohol/drugs/sex/food/money
- to resolve feelings of abandonment and loss
- to uncover unconscious patterns that hinder fulfillment
- to address fears of intimacy and sexual difficulties
- to work out your “part” in a continuing negative parent child interaction
The repetitive practice of examining and observing one’s thoughts and emotions, taking responsibility for beliefs and making a choice for a change of mind forms the basis of individual psychotherapy and inevitably leads to the transformation of one’s life and the manifestation of desired changes. Together we embark on the journey of self-examination that is a necessary step in the direction of healing. A change in behavior or experience (effect) cannot occur without a change of mind (cause) and thus the goal of therapy – healing the mind by returning it to the awareness of its true strength and power – the mind’s power of decision and choice. Therapy for habitual, chronic or acute depression, fear, worry, anxiety, nervousness, sadness, and other emotional discontent is identified, addressed, released and resolved in the course of individual therapy through which this power of decision is restored and applied to every facet of one’s life.
I will work with you to help you clearly define your goals and design the appropriate course of therapy to achieve them.
